Brady, Quinn Miles Apart On Health Care Overhaul
CHICAGO (AP) -- If Bill Brady is elected Illinois governor, he says he'd work with Congress to repeal President Barack Obama's health care overhaul, which he considers government intrusion.
Gov. Pat Quinn supports the law, which he says can protect Illinois consumers from unfair insurance price increases.
The law is a federal initiative, but it's up to state governors to determine how it's implemented.
Voters on Tuesday will choose between the vastly different approaches of the Democratic incumbent and his Republican challenger, Brady.
Quinn would continue to accept federal money tied to the law, using that money to beef up Illinois' weak regulatory powers over health insurers.
Brady would oppose the law, making sure Illinois joins 20 other states challenging it in court.
