Boy Stabbed By Family Member During Argument

CHICAGO (STMW) - A teenage boy was stabbed by a family in the Avondale neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.

Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said a 15-year-old boy was stabbed during an argument with a family member at his home in the 3200 block of North Elston Avenue about 2:30 p.m. He said that a family member was in custody and that the boy's injuries were not life-threatening.

Fire Media Affairs spokesman Quention Curtis said paramedics responded to a report of a 15-year-old boy with stab wounds who was taken to Children's Memorial Hospital in critical condition. However, the "critical" designation may have been precautionary because of the boy's age.

Grand Central Area detectives are investigating.
