Boy Shot, Seriously Wounded In West Pullman
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 17-year-old boy was shot in the genitals and rectum Thursday morning in the West Pullman neighborhood.
The boy was shot just after 8 a.m. Thursday in the 11800 block of South Eggleston Avenue, according to police News Affairs Officer Darryl Baety.
He was taken in serious condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to Fire Media Affairs.
Police said the teen was outside near his home when he was shot.
A relative heard the gunshot and came to her front door. The victim told the woman, "They got me,'' police said.
Police said early Thursday afternoon that because of the angle of the bullet wounds, they have ruled out the victim accidentally shooting himself. The victim suffered a graze wound to his genital area and gunshot wound to the rectum.
The teen said he saw the gunman and began running. No bullet was found and the weapon was not recovered.
