Boy Floating On Pier Down Chicago River Saved By Police
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 14-year-old boy was rescued Tuesday night after a floating pier he was standing on dislodged and carried him down the Chicago River, officials said.
About 7 p.m., the youth was on a floating pier near the 1300 block of East 32nd Place when it broke and carried him about 50 yards, said Fire Department spokesman Chief Joe Roccasalva.
The boy remained on the pier and rescuers tied a piece of rope to it and pulled him to shore where his mother was waiting, he said.
The boy was not injured.
