Boy, 7, Hailed As Hero For Rescuing 2-Year-Old In Pool
BATAVIA, Ill. (CBS) -- A 7-year-old Batavia boy is being called a hero for rescuing a toddler from a backyard pool.
As WBBM Newsradio's Lisa Fielding reports, Bradley Anderson tells the Chicago Sun-Times he was at a family friend's pool when he noticed a 2-year-old girl struggling in the water without a life jacket.
Bradley tells the Sun-Times he jumped in, pushed the girl up by the arm, and brought her safety from the 4-foot-deep shallow end of the pool.
Batavia Fire Chief Randy Diecke tells the Sun-Times that adults were present at the backyard party, but no one noticed the little girl struggling.
For his actions, Bradley was honored by the Batavia City Council, and awarded a proclamation for his quick thinking and heroic actions, the Sun-Times reported.
As part of his reward, Bradley was given a tour of the Batavia East Side fire station, a ride on a fire truck and his favorite grilled cheese sandwich in the firehouse kitchen, the Sun-Times reported.
