Boy, 16, Shot To Death On West Side

CHICAGO (STMW) - A gunman came out from an alley and opened fire on a 16-year-old boy on the West Side early Saturday, fatally wounding him.

About 12:03 a.m. the victim was standing on the sidewalk at Leamington and LeMoyne avenues when a male with a gun emerged from an alley and opened fire, a report from police News Affairs said.

The gunman then fled the scene and no one was in custody, the report said.

The victim, identified as Terrance Boyed, 16, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office, suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, according to police. Pronouncement information was not available Saturday morning.

According to unconfirmed dispatch reports, after being shot the victim collapsed at a gas station on the 5100 block of West North Avenue.

Grand Central Area detectives are investigating.
