Boy, 14, Critically Hurt In Austin Drive-By
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 14-year-old boy was shot in the chest Monday evening in the West Side Austin neighborhood.
The shooting happened about 6:15 p.m. in the 5100 block of West North Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Joshua Purkiss said.
The 14-year-old boy was found on the sidewalk after shots were fired at him from a red vehicle traveling east on North Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said.
The boy was taken in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the chest to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, authorities said.
Police did not have information on the make or model of the vehicle early Tuesday.
No one is in custody as Area North detectives investigate.
