Boy, 13, Critically Wounded In South Side Shooting
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A teenage boy was hospitalized in critical condition Monday after being shot multiple times in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood.
The 13-year-old boy was shot twice in the back about 7:05 p.m. in the 8600 block of South Aberdeen Street, said police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada, citing preliminary information.
Paramedics took the boy from the 8600 block of South Carpenter Street -- one block east of the shooting -- to University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital in critical condition, the fire department said.
Police said the gunman approached on foot, opened fire and ran away.
Area South detectives are investigating but nobody is in custody Monday night.
