Boy, 13, Charged With Shooting Three Teens In Washington Heights
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 13-year-old boy has been charged with shooting three other teenagers in the Washington Heights neighborhood earlier this week.
CBS 2's Susanna Song reports the boy, whose name was being withheld because of his age, has been charged with three counts of attempted murder and three counts of aggravated battery.
Police said, just as severe storms were rolling into Chicago on Monday evening, the 13-year-old approached three victims on a street corner in the 9700 block of South Lowe Avenue, and opened fire.
A 14-year-old boy was shot in the thigh, and another 14-year-old boy was shot in the chest and arm. They were taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park. Police said the boy who was shot in the chest was in critical condition.
A 17-year-old boy was shot in the head. He was being treated at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was listed in critical condition.
The 13-year-old was due to appear in Juvenile Court on Wednesday for a probable cause hearing.
