Bowman: 'We're Not Moving Patrick Kane'
CHICAGO (WSCR) For being such an important part of rebuilding the Chicago Blackhawks, Patrick Kane's name has been thrown out as potential trade bait by fans, and even some members of the media, on a surprisingly regular basis.
However, it doesn't seem as if general manager Stan Bowman wastes much of his time thinking about dealing the former Calder Trophy winner.
"We're not moving Patrick Kane," Bowman said on the Mully and Hanley Show. "He's such an important part of what we've accomplished so far."
Kane's time here in Chicago has been a bit of a roller coaster. He was a hero after helping bring the Blackhawks their first Stanley Cup in 49 years, in the process bringing the franchise back to relevance. But the Buffalo native has also been criticized for some of his behavior off of the ice.

"You can't forget that...he will be 23-years-old," Bowman said. "To accomplish what he's done in four years in the league is really remarkable. And we haven't even seen his best hockey yet, and it's the same thing for Jonathan Toews. These guys are so young and I think, in some ways, we don't recognize the accomplishments of them, relative to their peers. And there's no other player, at that age, that has contributed that significantly to a very good hockey team, and to have won a Stanley Cup.
"Their contributions are so important to us. They're going to be even better if you fast forward a few years. You know, it's great to see there's still growth in their game. And that's a scary thought."
