Bowman Hopes To Get Quenneville Extension Done Before Next Season
(CBS) Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville's contract expires after the 2013-14 season, but after winning two Stanley Cups during his time in Chicago, it's pretty much a foregone conclusion he'll be sticking around longer than one more season.
"We're going to work on (an extension)," general manager Stan Bowman told reporters Friday as the team's prospect camp concluded at Johnny's IceHouse on the west side. "It's just been at a breakneck speed finishing up and then the draft, free agency and then this camp."
Bowman wants to get the extension done before training camp begins in September and that shouldn't be much of a problem.
"We certainly like being here," Quenneville said, according to the Chicago Tribune. "We've liked our time here in Chicago. It's been a lot of thrills, a lot of excitement. We like everything surrounding the quality of life and being part of the sporting situation here in town. We love the organization. There are a lot of positives in all aspects of being here. Hopefully, things can work out."
Bowman also said he expects a deal to be completed with forward Marcus Kruger in the next few days and added that Marian Hossa would not require back surgery after getting hurt during the Stanley Cup Final.
