Bowen: Hanie Will Improve
(WSCR) The Bears may have lost their first game with Caleb Hanie under center, but improvements will come.
Hanie made questionable decisions, struggled in the pocket and looked just as many other first-time starters have looked, while throwing three interceptions, but he will only improve.
"He was almost robotic at times," Matt Bowen of The National Football Post and Chicago Tribune told The Boers and Bernstein Show. "That's the sign of a young player. ... It has to improve. That improves with experience. You'll see those roll-outs will be quicker. You'll see better feet in the pocket from Caleb. That all comes from coaching and game experience. You go back to training camp, no matter how many snaps he's had, if you're going to develop at any position, especially quarterback in the NFL, it has to be done on Sundays."

As the Bears begin to prepare for the Chiefs, Hanie will need to focus on one main aspect to keep his team in the game -- eliminating those three turnovers.
"There are ways he can improve," Bowen said. "If he goes back in the film room with coach Martz, he will be able to see the mistakes. A lot of it is just not trying (to do) too much. This is the NFL -- turnovers get you beat. It's a very simple game some times."
