Bowen: Floyd May Not Be On Board For Bears
(WSCR) So far, it appears no one has improved their draft stock quite like Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd.
Initially, many draft boards had Floyd headed to the Bears with the No. 19 pick, but after Floyd's 4.42 40-yard dash, one NFL expert thinks he may not be around when the Bears make their selection.
"(Speed) was kind of a question about Notre Dame's Michael Floyd coming into the combine," Matt Bowen of the National Football Post and Chicago Tribune told The McNeil and Spiegel Show. "What type of top-end speed does he have? Everyone knows he probably was a first-round grade without running, but now, you add that 4.42 official 40 time and you wonder if he's even going to be there at No. 19 when the Bears are on the clock. He might not be anymore."

While some have questioned the importance of a 40-yard dash time, Bowen said that time is critical in player evaluation.
"Some people don't buy into 40 times," he said. "I'll tell you what, when you're looking at wide receivers and corners, these scouts, GMs and head coaches want guys that can run. They're not going to over-draft a guy who doesn't have a good 40 time. They want to see these guys run, they want to see them perform."
