Bowen: Bears Can Run Against Detroit

(WSCR) Leading the charge for the Bears current three-game winning streak has been consistent play from running back Matt Forte behind three solid showings from the offensive line.

Heading into Sunday's game against Detroit, the Bears will face arguably one of the most powerful defensive lines in the league looking to break up their newly-found continuity on offensive in Cliff Avril, Ndamukong Suh, Corey Williams and Kyle Vanden Bosch.

"You can run the ball against Detroit," Matt Bowen of The National Football Post and Chicago Tribune told The Mully and Hanley Show on Friday. "I understand this front four is very good. It's got a lot of name power, too. But there are ways to block them up and be physical."

Bowen said one of the key points to the Bears turning things around on the offensive line has been the increased intensity from Lance Louis.

"On Monday night, they physically whipped Philadelphia up front," Bowen said. "I'll tell you what, watching Lance Louis was fun. It was fun to watch him. He buried guys. ... I played with Jon Jansen in Washington. Off the field, John is one of the nicest guys I've ever met, but when he's on the field, he's a nasty guy. He is nasty. He buries people. He would put them on the ground and he held them down there and tells them, 'Hey, I'm going to do it again the next play.' That's what I saw from Lance Louis, against that supposed speed from Philadelphia."
