Bosh Says He Wants To Remain In Miami, Would Take Less Money To Do So
(CBS) Heat big man Chris Bosh -- who can opt out of his contract following this season -- told the Dan LeBatard Show that he wants to remain in Miami and he's willing to take less money if he has to.
"Yeah, I mean, I don't want to go anywhere," Bosh said, according to the Palm Beach Post. "I like it here. It's Miami. Everybody wants to come here."
The Post also reported that when asked if he would accept a below-market offer from the Heat, Bosh responded, "If that's what it takes."
Bosh has been to nine straight All-Star Games.
Bosh and fellow stars LeBron James and Dwyane Wade each have an early-termination option in their contracts that allow them to hit the free agent market this summer if they want. Only Bosh has indicated thus far what he wants to do. The Heat has had tremendous success since the start of the Big Three era, with two championships and another NBA Finals appearance. Up 3-1 on Indiana on the Eastern Conference Finals, Miami needs one more win to become just the third franchise in NBA history to reach four straight NBA Finals.
If Wade, Bosh and James chose to return to Miami for another year, it gives further star power to a 2015 free agent class that is already projected to be rich in talent. As it sits, Kevin Love, Rajon Rondo, Al Jefferson, Klay Thopson, Kyrie Irving, DeAndre Jordan and LaMarcus Aldridge are set to have contracts expire in summer 2015, though some of those players figure to sign extensions or be traded before then.
