Bond Denied For Man Who Beat, Choked Elderly Father
BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (STMW) -- A 46-year-old southwest suburban man was denied bond Thursday after being charged with beating and trying to strangle his elderly father over the weekend.
Late Sunday afternoon, 78-year-old George Williamson was sitting at his desk in his home in Orland Park when his son approached and began to choke him, according to a release from the Cook County Sheriff's office.
A struggle ensued and both men fell to the floor, where Mark Williamson, held his father to the ground from behind and began to strike his face against the ceramic floor, a release from the sheriff's office said. The force of the blows caused significant injuries to his face, neck and head.
Mark Williamson then left the home without seeking medical attention for his father, who was able call for help, the release said. He was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox.
Two days later, the elder Williamson called police from his hospital bed allowed them to search his home in the 9200 block of West 143rd Street.
In the basement of the home, officers found Mark Williamson allegedly "huffing" a can of compressed air. He was arrested without incident and charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery, the release said.
His next hearing is Nov. 29 in Bridgeview.
