Bomb Suspect Caught In Colorado After Search Including Chicago
BOULDER, Colo. (CBS) -- The suspect who was wanted for allegedly planting a bomb at a shopping mall has been captured in Colorado, after a nationwide manhunt that included Chicago.
The FBI Denver Joint Terrorism Task Force announced Tuesday that Earl Albert Moore, 65, was captured in the Boulder, Colo., area.
Moore, who has an extensive criminal background, is suspected of planting a bomb and propane tanks at the Southwest Plaza mall, in suburban Denver near Columbine High School, on April 20. He was released from prison in Georgia a week before the incident, CBS Denver reported.
On Monday, the FBI was searching for Moore in Chicago and all over the country.
But FBI spokesman Ross Rice said from the beginning that there was no specific information linking Moore to Chicago.
"Obviously we're a transportation hub for the Midwest so it's possible that he could be traveling through Chicago en route to somewhere else," Rice said Monday. "It's also possible that he could be hiding here because it's a major metropolitan area."
