Bobby Bowden 'Not Rejoicing' Over Win Record
(WSCR) In the wake of the sanctions levied against Penn State by the NCAA on Monday, former Florida State head coach Bobby Bowden now holds the record for most wins in FBS history.
The NCAA mandated that Penn State forfeit all wins recorded since 1998 - 111 of those 112 wins belonged to former head coach Joe Paterno. With the forfeiture of those wins, Paterno now owns 298 wins. Bowden becomes the record-holder with 377.
Still, Bowden isn't happy about the record.
"There's no rejoicing in the Bowden household," Bowden told CNN. "The most important matter is the young men who suffered. I won't be able to enjoy it under the circumstances.
"The fact I knew Joe personally, I'm probably like a lot of the kids who played for him. I hate it for Joe and his family, but the worst part is what happened to those kids and what Jerry Sandusky did."
