Board Boss Vows To Fix Orland Park School Bus Mess
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The head of a southwest suburban school district promises to get bus service problems straightened out or find a new school bus company.
Transportation has been a mess this week in Orland Park School District 135, and school board president Joe LaMargo says that has to stop or the district will try to end its contract with the Positive Connections bus company.
"After a week of school and there are still buses that are late picking kids up or missing spots," said LaMargo, adding it's "completely unacceptable."
LaMargo says some of the school bus drivers have even become lost on their routes.
He says administrators and teachers will start riding problem routes, with the added cost billed to the bus company.
LaMargo says a form has been set up on the District 135 web site for parents to inform the district about any problems.
The district transports 4,700 students, including students to two parochial schools.
Newsradio is attempting to get a response from the bus company.
