'Blues Brothers' Playing Wrigley Field On July 6
CHICAGO (CBS) -- It was 31 years ago today that movie-goers first saw "The Blues Brothers" in theaters.
Now Joliet Jake and Elwood Blues are coming to Wrigley Field for a special movie screening on July 6 at 8:30 p.m.
Hard to believe, but the movie is rated R--there are a few F-bombs in the dialogue, along with some adult themes. Remember when Jake gets his items back as he leaves prison at the start of the movie?
Corrections Officer: "One Timex digital watch, broken. One unused prophylactic."
[looks disgusted, picks something up with his pen]
Corrections Officer: "One soiled."
So the story of Jake and Elwood seeking redemption by putting the band back together to raise cash to save a Catholic orphanage, may not be suitable for young kids.
Groupon is offering the tickets--$20 gets you a bleacher seat. For $40, you get one ticket on the outfield grass. For $100, you get a VIP package that includes: An outfield grass seat and hours of food and drink at the Captain Morgan Club, starting at 6:30 p.m.
The event also will include an attempt to set the Guinness Book of World record for most people wearing sunglasses in the dark.
Elwood: "It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses." ...
Jake: "Hit it."
And of course, everyone who attends the screening will be at the very place that Jake listed as his home address on his driver's license.
Jake: "How are you going to get the band back together, Mr. Hot Rodder? Those cops have your name, your address..."
Elwood: "They don't have my address. I falsified my renewal. I put down 1060 West Addison."
Jake: "1060 West Addison? That's Wrigley Field."
