Blue Line Service Suspended In Loop During Rush Hour
CHICAGO (CBS) -- CTA Blue Line train service was suspended in the Loop on Tuesday morning, after a man was struck by a train, police said.
The man, thought to be in his 40s, was hit in a tunnel area near the Clark/Lake station at 7:50 a.m., according to Chicago Police.
He was taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
However, a witness told CBS 2 that the man put his hand through a closing door and was dragged several feet.
Passengers were screaming and alerted the driver, the witness said.
Rescue crews helped passengers exit the subway. There were no immediate reports of additional injuries.
Power was shut off in both directions. Service was restored around 9 a.m.
Shuttle buses were put in place from the Damen stop and the UIC Halsted station to get passengers into downtown.
There were nine stations affected between Damen and UIC-Halsted.
