Blue Line Service Resumes After Body Found Under Platform
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Service has resumed along the CTA Blue Line on the West Side after a body was found under a Near West Side train platform on Wednesday.
The CTA was notified at 10:10 a.m. of an unauthorized person on the tracks at the Illinois Medical District Station, according to CTA spokeswoman Wanda Taylor.
Power was shut off to the tracks between Morgan Street and Kedzie Avenue while Fire Department crews responded to the scene at 430 S. Damen Av.
The victim was dead on the scene, Fire Media Cmdr. Will Knight said. The body had been removed as of shortly after noon and service along the Blue Line has resumed.
Taylor said the body was found under the platform at the station. The Cook County Medical Examiner's office has been notified of the death but had no additional details on the victim late Wednesday morning.
While power was off to the tracks, shuttle buses were operating between the Pulaski and LaSalle stations in both directions along the Blue Line. But as of 12:05 p.m., Blue Line service had resumed.
