Blue Line Service Resumes, After Body Found In Subway
Updated 05/03/13 - 10:36 a.m.
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Service was halted for nearly an hour Friday morning on a section of the CTA Blue Line, after a body was found under a grate in the subway.
Officials said a man's body was found around 9:40 a.m., under a grate in the subway near 117 W. Lake St. The man had not been hit by a train. Sources said he appeared to have been homeless.
While police and firefighters were responding, the CTA shut off power to the Blue Line between the Damen and Racine stations. Power was restored by about 10:30 a.m., but there were still some lingering delays while service resumed on the Blue Line.
The CTA set up shuttle buses between Damen and Racine while the Blue Line was shut down between those stations.
