HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. (WBBM/CBS) -- Metra is not merely delaying trains as the blizzard slams Chicago. Entire lines have been shut down.
There was no service at all Wednesday morning on the Heritage Corridor, North Central Service, Metra Electric Blue Island, Southwest Service, and Union Pacific McHenry Sub lines. All others were running on Sunday schedules.

But on the Metra Union Pacific North Line, as WBBM Newsradio 780's John Cody reports, bells ding and crossing gates lower now and again, but no train comes.
City plows have cleared snow from streets in Highland Park and Highwood where the streets cross the Metra North Line tracks. At the grade crossings, the snow was piled up 12 to 20 inches, right on the tracks.
The tracks are a testimony to the lack of activity on the line.
