CHICAGO (STMW) -- A fire at a restaurant in the South Side Beverly neighborhood caused heavy damage to the building Sunday night. No one was hurt.
Crews responded to the still-and-box alarm blaze at the Franconello's Italian Restaurant near 102nd Street and Western Avenue at 11:57 p.m., according to Fire Media Affairs. They put out the fire about 12:20 a.m.
No one was injured, but the building sustained heavy fire damage and a portion of the south wall on the second floor collapsed, according to Fire Media Affairs.
Firefighters were in defensive mode as they fought the blaze, according to dispatch reports.
The Office of Fire Investigations has not officially confirmed a cause, but officials suspect a gas explosion started the fire, according to Fire Media Affairs.
