Blackhawks Won't Bring Back Chris Campoli
(CBS) The Chicago Blackhawks will not re-sign restricted free agent Chris Campoli, the team announced on Friday.
The Blackhawks have been negotiating with Campoli and his representatives for some time, but were unable to reach an agreement. He is scheduled for an arbitration hearing on August 3. The Blackhawks can either trade the defenseman before then, or he will become and unrestricted free agent after the hearing.
Campoli was acquired by the Blackhawks at the trade deadline last season in exchange for prospect Ryan Potulny and a conditional 2nd round pick. The Blackhawks also received a conditional 7th round pick in the trade.
Campoli recorded a goal and six assists with the Blackhawks in 19 games.
He was a seventh round (227th overall) pick of the New York Islanders in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
