Blackhawks, Wild Holding Auction To Help Young Hockey Player Who Suffered Spinal Cord Injury
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Chicago Blackhawks and the Minnesota Wild are working together ahead of Sunday night's game to help out an amateur player who injured his spinal cord during a game last month.
Both organizations have donated experiences such as being a player for a day and traveling with the team to an online auction for Matt Olson.
The 20-year-old defenseman for the Chicago Cougars junior hockey team went into the boards during a their last regular season game at the Sears Centre on February 21.

His coach, Brad Stoffers, says Olson is a hard worker, a player who was the first to arrive and the last to leave practice.
Olson can't move or feel anything below his shoulders including his hands but Stoffers says he was all smiles during a recent visit by Hawks players Andrew Shaw and Andrew Desjardin at the Park Ridge hospital where he's been since the accident.
The Hawks and the Wild will be wearing stickers on their helmets when they play with Matt's initials and his number.
Bidding on the auction begins Sunday at noon and ends at noon on March 30.
