Blackhawks To Hold Part Of Training Camp At Notre Dame
(CBS) The Blackhawks are making a significant change to their annual training camp, opting to start their preparation for the 2013-14 season on the road.
The University of Notre Dame will host the Blackhawks' first four practices at Compton Family Ice Arena from Thursday, Sept. 12 to Sunday, Sept. 15 before the team returns to Chicago for its annual Training Camp Festival Sept. 16.
"We are thankful that Notre Dame is allowing us to host our camp at their new state-of-the-art, world-class facility," general manager Stan Bowman said in a statement. "Opening camp on the road offers our players and coaching staff a unique team bonding atmosphere. We look forward to bringing Blackhawks hockey to our fans in Northwest Indiana."
Compton Family Ice Arena opened up in 2011 and seats over 5,000 fans.
"Notre Dame is honored to be able to host the Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks at the Compton Family Ice Arena," Notre Dame athletics director Jack Swarbrick said. "It is great to have the best team in hockey spend time at what we believe is one of the best hockey facilities in the country."
The Blackhawks also announced that tickets for the Training Camp Festival at the United Center Sept. 16 will go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. Tickets are $5.
