Blackhawks Sign Hjalmarsson To 5-Year Extension
(CBS) Days after locking up goalie Corey Crawford with a six-year deal, the Blackhawks signed defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson to a five-year contract extension.
The deal keeps Hjalmarsson in place through the end of the 2018-19 season.
Hjalmarsson, drafted by the Blackhawks in the fourth round of the 2005 NHL Draft, has recorded 56 points (nine goals and 47 assists) and a +48 rating in 306 career games.
He was on both the 2010 and 2013 Stanley Cup-winning teams.
