Blackhawks Sign Frolik And Lepisto
(CBS) The Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to a three-year contract with the team's restricted free agent Michael Frolik and a one-year contract with unrestricted free agent Sami Lepisto, the team announced on Friday.
Frolik was acquired by the Blackhawks during the 2010-11 season in the trade that sent Jack Skille to the Florida Panthers. In 28 games with the Blackhawks last season, Frolik tallied three goals and six assists. The Kladno, Czech Republic native also added two goals and three assists in the Blackhawks' playoff series against the Vancouver Canucks.
Lepisto, a defenseman, spent last season with the Columbus Blue Jackets. In 19 games in the NHL during the 2010-11 season, he had five assists, 18 penalty minutes and a +3 plus/minus rating. Lepisto, an Espoo, Finland native, was a third round (66th overall) pick by the Washington Capitals in the 2004 draft. He has 32 points (5G, 27A) and 133 PIM in 150 career games.
Adam Jahns, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports that Frolik's contract is worth $7 million.
