Blackhawks Recall Smith From Rockford
The Chicago Blackhawks have recalled forward Ben Smith from the Rockford IceHogs, the team announced on Wednesday.
The Avon, Connecticut native ranks second on the IceHogs with 19 goals, and has a team-high two short handed goals. He's appeared in three games for the Blackhawks this season.
Smith was the Blackhawks' fifth pick (169th overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He led Boston College to a National Championship in 2010 and was named the Frozen Four's Most Outstanding Player.
After losing in overtime to the Montreal Canadiens, the Blackhawks will host the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday night.
