Blackhawks Re-Sign Nick Boynton
The Blackhawks have re-signed forward Nick Boynton to a one-year deal. The Nobleton, Ontario, native was on the ice for Patrick Kane's Stanley Cup clinching goal. He was acquired by the Hawks on March 2nd from the Anaheim Ducks and spent the majority of his initial time on the team as a healthy scratch.
While playing in seven regular season games, Boynton had an assist, 12 penalty minutes and +4 plus/minus rating. Boynton's veteran presence paid off as he stayed focused despite the lack of playing time and in the three Stanley Cup finals games he played in, posted a +2 plus/minus rating. A former 21st overall pick of the Boston Bruins, Boynton will provide veteran leadership to the team while not hurting the current salary cap situation.
