Blackhawks Re-Sign Bollig, Smith To 2-Year Deals
(CBS) The Blackhawks re-signed forwards Brandon Bollig and Ben Smith to two-year contracts, bringing back two pieces who figure to be contributors next season.
The team also agreed to terms with goaltender Carter Hutton on a one-year contract and released goaltender Alexander Salak.
Bollig made his NHL debut last season, playing in 18 regular season games and scored his first NHL goal in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals against Phoenix. He spent most of the year with the Rockford IceHogs.
Smith also spent the majority of last season in Rockford, but scored three goals in 19 regular season games with the Blackhawks.
Hutton posted a 11-2-1 record with the IceHogs after signing a one-year deal with the Blackhawks Feb. 24. Salak was 6-10-2 with a 2.69 goals-against-average in Rockford last season.
