Blackhawks Playoff Tickets 2nd-Most Expensive In NHL
(TiqIQ/CBS) - The St. Louis Blues and Chicago Blackhawks are two of the best teams in the NHL this season, and they'll face each other in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Blackhawks playoff tickets at the United Center are the second-most expensive of all playoff teams at $415.44, but that's only an increase of 77 percent over the regular-season price. Only four teams have a smaller premium on the price of playoff tickets. Despite the quality of the matchup, Blackhawks fans don't seem too excited about the Blues and could optimistically be looking forward to future rounds in the playoffs.
In contrast, the Blues playoff tickets have increased by the second most at 162 percent. Tickets are $186.65 on average compared to $71.24 during the regular season. The Blackhawks certainly helped that spike, as tickets increased to above the season average to $100 when the Blackhawks visited during the regular season.
The Blues have been dominant all across the board on the ice this season. They're in the top 10 for both goals scored and goals allowed, and for special teams. Their one perceived weakness was in net, and they addressed that need with the blockbuster acquisition of goalie Ryan Miller at the trade deadline.
The Blackhawks strength is their offense that continues to be one of the most dominant units in the league. They rank second in the NHL scoring 3.2 goals a game, and have five players with 60+ points. They're no slouches on the defensive end either, ranking 12th in goals allowed. Corey Crawford has had another solid season in net for them; sporting a 2.26 GAA and a .917 save percentage.
The Blues won the season series 3-2, but the Blackhawks have won the last two by a combined 8-2. Two of the Blues victories came in the shootout, a luxury they won't have in the postseason. This is sure to be one of the more evenly contested series in the Stanley Cup playoffs and should be well worth the ticket price.
