Blackhawks Place Corey Crawford On IR
(CBS) Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, three days after he underwent an appendectomy in Philadelphia that will sideline him for at least several weeks.
The move is retroactive to Dec. 3. in being placed on the IR, a player must sit out at least seven days, but Crawford will take longer than that. After his surgery went as planned Saturday, the team said he's expected to return to hockey activities in two or three weeks, then progress back to game action from there.
Crawford is 12-6-2 with a 2.27 goals against average and .927 save percentage this season.
The Blackhawks host the Coyotes on Tuesday night at the United Center.
