Blackhawks' Parade, Rally To Be Held Thursday

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The city has promised a "world class celebration" for the Chicago Blackhawks after they defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning and won their third Stanley Cup win in six years, and the official victory party will be held Thursday.
Details of the parade were announced late Tuesday afternoon, with mayor's office saying it will start at 10 a.m. with a rally to follow at Soldier Field. The parade will run along Monroe Street, beginning at Jefferson Street all the way to Michigan Avenue.
Two years ago, the victory parade took the team east on Washington Street to Michigan Avenue, then eventually to Grant Park, as more than 2 million fans turned out to celebrate.
In 2010, the parade also took the team down Washington Street to Michigan Avenue, but that time, the rally was at Michigan Avenue and the Chicago River.
However, several blocks of Washington Street downtown are under heavy construction, so it would seem likely some changes will be needed for the parade.
With all the rain on Monday, Grant Park wasn't a good option for the rally, as the grass would be too water-logged to allow that many people to trample the lawns Thursday.
"We're going to have a parade worthy of a dynasty in the city of Chicago," mayor Rahm Emanuel said. "To be able to win three times in six years is a testament."
