Blackhawks' Marian Hossa Expected To Miss 2 Weeks
(CBS) Blackhawks winger Marian Hossa's collision with the corner boards appeared to be gruesome Saturday, so perhaps what came from coach Joel Quenneville on Monday can be considered good news.
Quenneville told reporters that Hossa will likely miss just two weeks with what the team is terming as a lower-body injury.
"Hopefully two weeks is probably what we're looking at," Quenneville told reporters Monday at the United Center.
Hossa hit the corner boards hard after taking a check from Ducks defenseman Hampus Lindholm. He was helped off the ice, favoring his left leg. The Blackhawks lost that game 3-2 in overtime, their third straight loss, with each coming at home.
On Monday, in advance of a contest with the Maple Leafs, the Blackhawks skated Richard Panik in Hossa's place on the first line, alongside Jonathan Toews and Andrew Shaw. But then Shaw took a cut during the morning skate and left the ice, with Jiri Sekac taking his place on the top line. The team also recently called up forward Vincent Hinostroza from the AHL's Rockford IceHogs.
Hossa has 10 goals and 18 assists in 54 games this season, maintaining his customary place on the Blackhawks' top line.
Quenneville said that forward Teuvo Teravainen could see time in Hossa's place on the top line, too.
Puck drop between the Blackhawks and Maple Leafs comes at 7:30 p.m. Monday, with Scott Darling in net for Chicago.
