Blackhawks' Keith Named Norris Trophy Finalist
(CBS) Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith has been named a finalist for the Norris Trophy, given annually to the league's best all-around defenseman. The Bruins' Zdeno Chara and the Predators' Shea Weber are the other two finalists.
"It's a huge honor to be nominated for the Norris Trophy" Keith said in a statement. "I wouldn't be nominated without having great teammates and a great defense partner in Brent Seabrook. It's a special feeling to be up for this award."
Keith had 61 points this season, scoring six goals and registering 55 assists. It was a career-high tally in assists for him and the second-highest point total of his NHL career. Keith was sixth in the NHL in assists, first among defensemen.
Keith won the Norris Trophy in 2010.
Pierre Pilote (1963, 1964, 1965), Doug Wilson (1982) and Chris Chelios (1993, 1996) are the other Norris Trophy winners in Chicago franchise history.
The winner will be announced on June 24 in Las Vegas.
