Blackhawks Injury Update
Although the Blackhawks did not have a regular morning skate before facing the Kings Sunday night, a few of their injured players did lace up the skates and take to the ice. Marian Hossa--out since November 29th--and Viktor Stalberg--out since December 15th--both tested their injuries. Patrick Kane, however, was unable get on the ice.
"Last couple times he was on the ice he didn't get through practice so, I figured, give it a little time here and we'll see where he's at," Joel Quenneville said before Sunday's game.
Hossa has been skating for about a week but isn't quite ready for game action yet. For Stalberg it was his first time on the ice since taking a hit to the head in Wednesday night's loss to Colorado.
The Hawks are taking a wait and see approach as they near the Christmas break. With only one game left before a three-day layoff, Quenneville could just wait. "That could be the mindset," Quenneville said. "Obviously if they're ready to play, they're going to play. With Hossa and Viktor there's a chance that, you know, we'd like to see those guys have a possibility to play against Nashville."
So while the prognosis sounds alright for Hossa and Stalberg, it seems Hawks fans will have to wait until after Christmas to see Kane back on the ice.
