Bitter Wind Chills To Linger Through The Weekend
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Frigid wind chills were expected to last through the start of next week, when Chicago should see a return of more seasonable conditions.
Temperatures dipped into the single digits overnight in Chicago, and wind chills were as low as 1 below before dawn.
The high was expected to reach only around 16 on Wednesday, and wind chills will linger in the low single digits through Thursday afternoon, when the temperature will climb into the low 20s, and wind chills will be in the low to mid teens.
Friday will be only slightly better, with a high around 25, although stronger winds should keep wind chills in the low teens. Friday also brings a chance of snow flurries, though accumulation should be less than an inch for most of the area.
Temperatures will plunge into the single digits Friday night, and it will feel as cold as 15 below zero. Saturday will see temperatures no better than the mid teens.
The weather will start to improve on Sunday, when temperatures will get back to the low 20s, and then on Monday, they should be much closer to normal for this time of year, with temperatures in the low 30s.
