Billick: Tice Perfect Choice For Bears OC
(WSCR) Since Mike Tice's promotion to offensive coordinator, some have wondered how an offensive line coach will fare calling an offense.
After all, Tice has never before called plays. One NFL expert, however, thinks Tice is perfect for this position.
"You've got one of the best coaches in the National Football League," Brian Billick told The Boers and Bernstein Show. "I know a lot is made of, 'Well, can the guy call the game from the offensive line position?' Yes, you can. Mike is one of those guys with the unique background from all the years he played in the NFL. He's (also) one of the hardest-working coaches I've ever been around. He's got a complete knowledge of the game.

"Anybody can draw up routes -- that's the easiest part. Literally, anybody can do it. A true coordinator stems from your understanding of protections -- how it's integrated with the running game, and then getting the ball down the field. So, from that standpoint, two-thirds of the job is ideally suited for a guy like Mike Tice. I think he'll do a great job."
