Bill Daley Among Senior Staff Who Watched Bin Laden Raid
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Among the senior White House staff who watched the raid that resulted in death of Osama Bin Laden, was Chicagoan and White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley.
Daley, the brother of Mayor Richard Daley, can be seen standing and watching the scene intensely in a blue suit and tie just behind Secretary of State Hilllary Rodham Clinton.
"It was probably one of the most anxiety-filled periods of time, I think, in the lives of the people who were assembled here," White House counter-terrorism adviser John Brennan said.
The president and his team were able to monitor the sequence of events from the very start, Brennan said. The operation, carried out by an elite team of Navy SEALS, took about 40 minutes.
