Biggs: Tice's Potential Departure Could Spell Disaster
(WSCR) Just when the Bears thought they had one vacancy filled, the Raiders came along and asked for permission to interview Mike Tice for their head coaching position.
If Tice is hired and decides to head to Oakland, the Bears may find themselves in a world of trouble. Given the uncertainty within the Bears organization with no general manager and a head coach essentially on a one-year deal, the position of offensive coordinator might scare qualified candidates away.
"Two years ago when they were in the same position searching for a replacement for Ron Tuner, not everyone wanted to come talk to the Bears," Brad Biggs of the National Football Post and Chicago Tribune told The Mully and Hanley Show. "It wasn't the most attractive job out there. There were concerns about the stability of Lovie Smith and his position. They kind of find themselves in the same spot right now. If they were to be forced to go out there, say, 10 days from now or two weeks from now and start going through the process of hiring a coordinator, it probably wouldn't be the deepest field of candidates."

An organization that just a few months ago appeared to be running on all cylinders and heading for it's second-straight playoff appearance is now seemingly falling apart at the seems.
"That would be a pretty big set back when you consider the way it went when they transitioned quickly from philosophical difference with Mike Martz to promoting Mike Tice into the position," Biggs said. "It would create a real void kind of late in the process."
