Biggs: Personnel Changes Nothing New For Bears O Line
(WSCR) For an offensive line that was just starting to gain continuity, the loss of left guard Chris Williams for the season could be critical.
During the Bears current four-game winning streak, the offensive line has been a bright spot, protecting Jay Cutler and paving a way for Matt Forte. Now, with Williams lost for the season with a wrist injury, the Bears must regroup and work with a new left guard in Edwin Williams.
"They've made so many changes on the offensive line, even since the start of this season, that you gotta feel that the guys are used to it," Brad Biggs of The National Football Post and Chicago Tribune told The Mully and Hanley Show. "Edwin's done enough in practice and last year that the people are familiar with him. Hopefully they just move on and it's not that big of a deal, but certainly not what you wanted for that group because they were starting to come around.

Biggs said part of the reason for the Bears success up front has been a shift in play calling with offensive coordinator Mike Martz calling plays that better suit his personnel.
"They were playing better, more consistent football where they were familiar with the guy next to them and what he was going to do," Biggs said. "Mike Martz was being smarter with how he was approaching game plans. He wasn't asking this unit to do things it couldn't do or it would struggle to accomplish. With the group improving and with Martz being smarter about what he was doing, we saw much better offensive football from the Bears."
