Biggs: 'No Way Forte Will Hold Out'

(WSCR) Matt Forte made his dissatisfaction with the contract of backup running back Michael Bush public Thursday when he tweeted out his displeasure.

The Bears signed Bush to a four-year contract worth roughly $7 million in guaranteed money. Forte, however, still is without a long-term contract as the Bears have placed the franchise tag on him.

Still, one Bears experts said there is no chance Forte will hold out.

"There is no way Matt Forte will hold out of the regular season," Brad Biggs of the National Football Post and Chicago Tribune told The Mully and Hanley Show. "That's just cockamamie. For someone to suggest that's a possibility, they're not grounded in reality. The situation is, with this franchise tag, his game check in Week 1 will be equal to 12 game checks from this past season. He's not going to pass on that type of money to prove a point. If he were to miss the offseason program and mini camps, that would not surprise me. But sitting out beyond July 16 would really serve no benefit to him."

The signing of Bush was not as an insurance policy in case Forte holds out.

"The majority of the motivation behind that move is you want to have two quality running backs," Biggs said. "They had to go out and make that move. It was very evident that Marion Barber was not going to be that guy. You had to make some kind of move. In my mind, they got the best player available in free agency at the position in Michael Bush."
