Biggs: No One Needed To Remind Barber To Stay In Bounds
(WSCR) It's two days after the Bears' overtime loss to the Broncos and it's still as baffling as ever.
The Bears had the game won with less than two minutes remaining and a three-point lead. All Marion Barber had to do was fall down in bounds to secure a victory and potentially save this season.
Instead, Barber ran out of bounds, breathing life into the Broncos and giving them a chance to score. Immediately following the loss, some questioned Caleb Hanie and the coaching staff, saying they should have reminded the veteran running back to stay in bounds.
"I heard Troy Aikman talk about it yesterday saying that the coaches need to tell the player to stay in bounds," Brad Biggs of the National Football Post and Chicago Tribune told The Mully and Hanley Show. "Come on. Really, Troy? Seriously? You need to tell a guy who has been in the National Football League for seven season, a guy who has carried the ball his whole life, that he has to stay in bounds? I don't personally believe that."

The Bears third-straight loss knocked them out of the playoff picture for the first time in over a month. At 7-6, the Bears will likely need to win their final three games against the Seahawks, Packers and Vikings to have a chance at a wild card berth.
"I realize that they could get in at 9-7 if some things go their way -- quite a few things need to go their way for them to be able to sneak in at 9-7," Biggs said. "(But) you haven't seen anything from this team in three games now that leads you to believe they'll beat the Seahawks or they'll beat the Minnesota Vikings on New Years Day. I just haven't seen it."
