Biggs: McNabb Is Not The Answer
(WSCR) Without Jay Cutler, that Bears have looked to Caleb Hanie to keep the team together until Cutler's return.
Two games into that experiment, the Bears have lost two straight, and it's becoming more and more clear that Hanie is not the answer.
So is Donovan McNabb on the Bears' radar?
"I think that's a knee-jerk reaction," Brad Biggs of the National Football Post and Chicago Tribune told The Mully and Hanley Show. "I'm not saying that Caleb Hanie is going to settle down and get it together at the end of this season, but it's simply too late in the year to get a quarterback off the street who can be competent in a game for you. I'm not talking about good, I'm talking about (someone) that doesn't go out there and get you blown out. Donovan McNabb is not going (to help). ... The guy has been dumped by three NFL teams in less than three years now.
"He's not the answer. There's a problem here, there's a question, but the answer doesn't involve Donovan McNabb."

The Bears offense struggled in their latest loss, putting up only three points. But Biggs isn't putting all the blame on the offense.
"When you get a situation where it is apparent that your offense isn't getting anything done, the defense then has to put points on the board," Biggs said. "At the minimum, that means creating a takeaway on the 'plus' side of the field, within the 30-yard line, where if the offense goes three plays without gaining a yard, you can kick a field goal. That's what you gotta do. The defense wasn't able to do that, obviously against the Oakland Raiders last week, and could not get a takeaway from the giveaway machine, known as Tyler Palko. ... If you can't get the ball away from him, what are you doing?"
