Biggs: Don't Rush To Judgment On Shea McClellin
(WSCR) When the Bears kick off their first preseason game against the Broncos tonight, eyes will be focused on first-round draft pick Shea McClellin.
McClellin struggled through his first training camp, but one Bears expert said it's important to not rush to any judgements on McClellin, especially after the first preseason game.
"I do know this - whatever Shea McClellin does tonight will be overblown, good or bad. If he goes out and has a sack right away and knocks the quarterback down two times and picks up a fumble, tomorrow morning people are going to have him headed to Canton. Forget the regular season opener, he's going straight to Canton. If he goes out and performs poorly, it's going to be a draft pick made by Jerry Angelo before he walked out the door. It's still awful early. There's a lot of stuff to do before we get to that Colts game."

Biggs also said fans should keep an eye on the defensive end position in general. After starters Julius Peppers and Isreal Idonije, the next spot is up for grabs.
"It's just critical for this team to be able to find some consistent help at defensive end," Biggs said. "My goodness, we've talked about this since January about the lack of a third defensive end. Now, Corey Wooten has had a pretty nice training camp. We saw him have a nice training camp last summer, then they got into the preseason and season opener and there was that special teams play and he injures his knee. It was all downhill from there. Corey Wooten has an opportunity. This is a critical preseason for him."
