Biggs: Cutler Can Find Comfort With Bates
(WSCR) The addition of Jeremy Bates as the Bears new quarterbacks coach will give Jay Cutler something he's yet to have in Chicago -- familiarity.
Bates worked with Cutler for three seasons in Denver, including the 2008 season when Cutler threw for a Broncos' franchise record 4,526 yards en route to the Pro Bowl.
"Now that they bring in a guy who (Cutler is) close with, who he has a strong relationship with in Bates, that should ease that process for Cutler and hopefully make him more comfortable," Brad Biggs of the National Football Post and Chicago Tribune told The Mully and Hanley Show. "Now, if they could get him some guys to throw the football to, maybe they'd really be on a roll."

Entering his seventh NFL season, Cutler will have played under four different offensive coordinators. Though, with his newest coordinator in Mike Tice, the adjustment won't be a difficult as it has been in the past.
"This is a transition even though they're going to keep some key elements of what they were doing under (Mike) Martz, including keeping the verbiage the same," Biggs said. "There's not a huge adjustment in that line of thinking for Cutler, but there is an adjustment."
