Biggs: Bears Need To Be Cautious With Urlacher
(WSCR) When the clock strikes midnight tonight, Brian Urlacher will turn 34 years old.
The aging linebacker is working to return from spraining the medial collateral and posterior cruciate ligaments in his left knee during the Jan. 1 season finale against the Vikings.
One Bears expert said the Bears must be cautious when dealing with Urlacher, especially during OTAs.
"He didn't have to have surgery. I think this is a situation where they're just being overly cautious," Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune told The Mully and Hanley Show. "They realize that he's getting to be (old.) You want to take it easy on guys like that. You're not winning starting jobs this time of year and you're also not winning football games this time of year. So, save him and his body for when you need it.

"Let's be honest: what does he need to learn about that defense? What twists are there that he doesn't know? There are none. When you consider that they still have some relative inexperience there at linebacker, I think it's a good opportunity to teach a guy like Dom Decicco to see if he can be a backup."
